Countdown Timer

A simple, accurate countdown timer with start, pause, presets and an alarm when time’s up.

Productivity & Planning Your files never leave your device.

How to use Countdown Timer

  1. Set a duration

Type hours, minutes and seconds, or tap a quick-set preset like 5 or 25 minutes to fill them in instantly.

  2. Press Start

The countdown begins and the progress bar starts to drain. The first Start also enables the end-of-timer sound (browsers require a tap before audio can play).

  3. Pause or resume any time

Hit Pause to freeze the countdown and Resume to pick up exactly where you left off. Reset clears it back to your set duration.

  4. Get alerted when time’s up

At zero the timer flashes and plays a short alarm. Prefer silence? Switch the Sound toggle off before or during the countdown.

About Countdown Timer

A no-fuss countdown timer that runs right in your browser. Set any hours, minutes and seconds — or tap a quick preset like 5 or 25 minutes — then start, pause, resume and reset with big, obvious controls. A live progress bar shows how much time is left at a glance, and when the timer reaches zero it flashes and plays a gentle alarm (which you can mute). Because the countdown is anchored to a target time rather than counting ticks, it stays accurate even if the tab is in the background. Great for focus sessions, workouts, cooking, study sprints and presentations. No sign-up, no limits, nothing uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Will the timer keep accurate time if I switch tabs?
Yes. Rather than counting individual ticks (which browsers slow down in background tabs), it remembers the exact moment the countdown should end and measures against the clock, so it finishes on time even if the tab was inactive.
Why didn’t the alarm sound?
Browsers block audio until you’ve interacted with the page, so the sound is armed the first time you press Start. If you still hear nothing, check that the Sound toggle is on and your device isn’t muted.
Can I pause and resume?
Absolutely. Pause freezes the remaining time, and Resume continues from that exact point. Reset returns the timer to the duration you set so you can run it again.
Can I use it as a Pomodoro timer?
Yes — tap the 25-minute preset for a focus sprint, then a short one for your break. The clear controls and end alarm make it well suited to the Pomodoro technique.
What happens if I close or reload the page?
The timer lives in the page, so closing or reloading it stops the countdown. Keep the tab open while a timer is running.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The timer runs entirely in your browser and works offline once the page has loaded — nothing about your timers is uploaded or stored remotely.
